5. Mortal | I have repealed a thousand hours. Not to
repent and not for yours, I race blind to your mortal
gods. I’ve stepped leagues ahead of Satan. A code
supreme, against all odds. Answer to none but time and
sun. I live a life of plenty. I’ve drowned myself into
disease. I’ve beckoned the reaper as his claws sink into
me. At the bottom of every bottle; at the tip of every
key: a broken man with no beliefs falls open armed into
relief. Lost soul residing into peace. Life’s toll reflected
onto me. Time rolls on as our lives repeat. My days
crumble until I sleep. Walk with me past my days. Look
at the life I chose to lead. Gaze into the eyes of the
ghost I chose to be. This is my freedom, it is a lie. A drab
rota in the shadow of life. His rags fill my lungs, his
breath down my throat. The kiss of death is puckered
for my doctors’ note. I’ve never felt so mortal.
